New Year Greetings Typography Poster

At the beginning of this year, I was required to design some new year typography posters by One Idea Creative Studio. After careful consideration, I chose the Chinese new year greetings as the theme and the Chinese new year main hue golden and red as the basic colour on the posters.

For improving the attraction and sense of Chinese tradition of my design, I particularly combined the proposition of Hewen on the poster Taipingshengshi ( it means peace and prosperity ).

The Hewen is a Chinese ligatures game. In other words, it is a combination that does not represent morphemes but retains the original multi-character (multiple morphemes) reading and is therefore created as a beautiful typography pattern. One popular ligature used on spring festival scroll for Chinese Lunar New Year is a combination of the four characters for Zhaocaijinbao, meaning "ushering in wealth and fortune".
